Houston Police already have a deal in place to access Amazon Ring video, effectively creating a surveillance network- this has been the focus of our Neighbors Against Spying campaign. Now, Houston City Council member Abbie Kamin is introducing new Shotspotter technology which will be covered in the City’s Public Safety Committee for the next few months – we want to organize a response and spotlight the Houston Police use of surveillance tech in front of City Council. Members, coalition partners, and community members are invited to our planning meeting for our next steps, via Zoom, on Wednesday, November 3, at 6 pm.
