Comrades of Comedy Redux! @ Rec Room

We had such a wonderful time at our Comrades of Comedy event in October that we decided to put on another show for you! What better way to spend your St. Patrick’s Day than hanging out with your comrades and listening to a group of Houston’s funniest local comedians?

Festivities will start at 7 pm at Rec Room, and tickets are $10 at the door (cash or Venmo accepted). This fundraiser will at least be partially dedicated to sending attendees to the DSA Regional Conference in Dallas later this month. Can’t make it but still want to show us some love? Donate to your local Houston DSA chapter here.

Kate Vance’s comedy style is highly incriminating and unashamed. She walks through life with the subtly and grace of a tin can being blown down the road. You are all safer with her on stage than sitting next to you. A new comer in Houston, TX you can find her haunting stages all over the city and at her bi-monthly showcase On Our Radar at The Secret Group.

Ned Gayle is a flesh-bound soul vessel dedicated to makin’ ya snort. He currently cohosts a live talk show with his roommate called Effin’ Rager and it’s radio spin-off FM Rager. He also cohosts the podcasts Honey, I Shrunk the Binge and The Stacks. When he’s not begging you to laugh, he spends his time shooting and editing videos, drawing goofy monsters, and playing in the bands Swimwear Department and Total Nightmare. If you see him say HI!

Zahid Dewji is an East-African Indian comic out of Houston, TX who performs all around the country. He was a recent finalist at Comcast’s Trial By Laughter, a semifinalist at The Seattle International Comedy Competition and recently completed a three-city international tour in India.  Zahid has opened for great acts like Mark Normand, Jay Pharoah, Eric Andre, & Tom Segura and has also performed on multiple comedy festivals including Oddball Comedy Fest, Come & Take It Comedy Takeover, and Desi Comedy Fest. “Keep an eye on him.” – Houston Free Press

Dusti Rhodes uses her experience as a former ugly kid, journalist, awkward adult, and teacher to bring a unique and highly personal comedic performance to the stage. She has done stand up throughout the country including being featured on Comedy at the Knitting Factory, Come and Take It Comedy Take Over, Free Press Summer Fest, and Hell Yes Fest. She has opened for big names like Micheal Che, Demetri Martin, Maria Bamford, Janeane Garofalo, and Anthony Jeselnik. Dusti hosts the Houston Moth StorySLAM, Rudyard’s Comedy Open Mic (named the best weekly comedy show in Houston by various publications), and Wheelhouse: a Stand Up Comedy Game Show. Occasionally, she sleeps.

Janan Araujo-Siam: A walking stereotype, this half-white half-Palestinian, yoga teaching Muslim lesbian named Janan picked up comedy when she realized she loved making people laugh and, more importantly, the attention. Her humor is drawn from a deep self-awareness of human flaws and triumphs and she’s guaranteed to make some sort of liquid escape your body. It’s usually tears of laughter. Usually.

Come share some laughs with us!
